Saw Palmetto Powder (Extract) - 50 gm
Saw Palmetto herbal supplement is used in various health conditions like Enlarged prostate, Prostate cancer, hair loss and Regulating testosterone etc. It’s been shown to slow the production of the enzyme 5-alpha reductase, so taking it is a strong step to improve prostate health.
Saw palmetto plant was used for medicine by the Native Americans of the southeastern USA, and in the early 20th century, men used the berries to treat urinary tract problems and increase sperm production.
Today, saw palmetto supplements are one of the most commonly consumed supplements by men with prostate cancer and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). In fact, in 2011, over $18 million in saw palmetto was sold in the United States, ranking it third among herbal dietary supplements.
Benefits
Saw Palmetto for enlarged prostate: The most important factor about saw palmetto is that it’s been shown to slow the production of the enzyme 5-alpha reductase, so taking it is a strongstep to improve prostate health. This enzyme converts the male hormone testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT) — a sex steroid and androgen hormone. While DHT is important because it plays a role in male development, it also contributes to many common health issues in men, such as loss of libido, an enlarged prostate and hair loss. By taking saw palmetto supplements or using the extract of this beneficial plant, you inhibit the production of this hormone and avoid these issues that are seen in middle-aged and older males.
How does it work?
Saw palmetto doesn't shrink the overall size of the prostate, but it seems to shrink the inner lining that puts pressure on the tubes that carry urine. Saw palmetto also might prevent testosterone from being converted to a more potent form of testosterone called dihydrotestosterone (DHT). It is thought that some types of hair loss are caused by increased sensitivity of hair follicles to DHT. Reduced levels of DHT may help prevent these types of hair loss.

Dosage: Please consult your physician or dietician for the same. However generally people take 0.350 gms ( around 1/3 of a gram) to 0.650 gms with water 2 times a day after meals.
